Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation (CLF) operates six successful public charter schools in the State of Maryland. Each school uses Science Technology Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) to empower their students! Our academies also provide additional programs focusing on early college prep, mathematics and information technologies (IT). At our CLF Schools, your child will participate in classes with like minded students who share the passion and desire to excel under the guidance of experienced faculty.

Our Co-Founder, Spear Lancaster established CLF with the intention to maximize the potential of every person seeking an education at a CLF academy. He believes that every child deserves a quality education to help them navigate life and become successful in the career(s) of their choice.
Our Success RatesChesapeake Lighthouse Foundation (CLF) Schools has consistently been named one of the best charter schools in the state of Maryland. US News and World Report having named us the #2 public charter school in the state for the year 2019 (behind only our sister school, Chesapeake Science Point) and the #54 public high school overall statewide. Our national school rankings are also notable, being in the top 2300 high schools nationally, and being ranked the #309 charter school nationwide. The Maryland State Department of Education also has given our school a 5/5 star rating based on a number of criteria, including graduation rate and academic progress.
Departments and ProgramsChesapeake Lighthouse Foundation (CLF) Schools are Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) public charter schools in Prince George’s County and Anne Arundel County that aims to serve grades 9 through 12 with an academic program focusing on mathematics and information technologies (IT). CLF is home to a thriving education community in Prince George’s county, serving all levels of primary education, from elementary all the way to high school. The high school is the final step in the CLF educational system, where we pride ourselves on our STEM programs and initiatives, including the ITEC program, science olympiad, robotics programs, among others, dedicated to enriching the education of the next generation of STEM students and professionals.
Our GoalOur core belief is that each child has an inherent curiosity and love of learning and that each child has a unique intelligence, level of capability, and learning style. With this in mind, we place great emphasis on fully motivating our students and we guide them to efficiently realize their fullest potential. Our fundamental goal here at CLF is add an emphasis on mathematics and IT education in each school, and tailor an approach suited to better fit the needs of our community to provide a unique opportunity for youth to pursue professional careers as well as college education in the high paying and ever-growing field of information technologies.
Mission & Vision
In partnership with students, parents and the community, CLF schools attain educational excellence by providing a rigorous and technology-integrated education for K-12 students with an emphasis on mathematics, science, and information technologies. This mission accomplishes by implementing an innovative curriculum that incorporates technology into instruction while covering Common Core Standard and utilizing hands-on, inquiry-based teaching methods that create an active learning environment and a student-centered educational system.
Our vision is to provide multiple opportunities for youth to prepare for post secondary education in a variety of fields of study in order to pursue professional careers. We enable all students to achieve their maximum potential by equipping and empowering them with analytical thinking and quantitative reasoning skills. With this vision in mind, we prepare students to become competent, responsible and successful individuals in our globalized and technology-based society through a strong academic program, a school-family-community partnership, and a strong teacher-student relationship. We inspire and challenge sixth through twelfth grade students in a creative and supportive learning environment with an academic program focusing on STEM Areas to educate our students as responsible citizens.
