Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation (CLF) is the largest charter school operator in Maryland and currently serves over 3900 students at seven different campuses. CLF was officially established in 2003 when the nonprofit education management company received its 501-(c)(3) status.
Chesapeake Science Point Elementary School is modeled after CSP MS/HS. CSP is the best charter high school in Anne Arundel County and Best Ranked in Maryland, US News. Like CSP, CSP Elementary will be operated by Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation (CLF) and governed by the CSP Board. The technology focus is intended to expose and instill innovation and creativity in elementary school students through coding, robotics, virtual reality by means of technology integration, small group learning, experiential learning, and hands-on inquiry.
Chesapeake Science Point Middle/High School, CLF’s first charter school, is one of the most successful and accomplished public schools in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. CSP opened in 2005 and two years later was considered one of the best 30 middle schools in Northern Virginia, D.C., and Maryland (Jay Matthews, Washington Post). In 2019 and 2020 CSP received Best High School ranking (US News & World Report). This school currently earns 5 star ratings (MSDE Public Schools Report Card Accountability System).
Chesapeake Math and IT Academy North Elementary School fosters an early learning experience that provides students with an early start to the college and career mindset. CMIT North ES integrates technology into the daily curriculum providing hands-on inquiry-based lessons requiring teacher-structured lesson plans to better suit the inquiry process, and more integrated technology and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
Chesapeake Math and IT Academy North Middle School is located in northern Prince George’s County, Maryland. Its STEM program incorporates graphic arts making a strong connection with engineering principles for students. The Academy’s innovative program uses elements common to many research-based instructional methods such as hands-on and project-based learning, computer-assisted instruction, and digital storytelling.
Chesapeake Math and IT Academy North High School provides advanced math and computer courses targeting various IT certifications. CMIT builds on the advanced topics students were taught in earlier grades developing technological competencies aligned with the demands of today’s society. Along with this rigorous curriculum, CMIT NHS offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, lacrosse, chess, soccer, basketball, and debate teams.
Chesapeake Math and IT Academy South Elementary School is a STEM-focused elementary school that encourages all students to participate in problem-solving that inspires innovative research. In addition to the Maryland Common Core State Standard curriculum of Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies, CMIT SES has creative arts classes that include Lego design, Robotics, Maker’s Lab, Technology, Physical Education, Art and Music.
At Chesapeake Math and IT Academy South Middle/High School, students participate in classes with like-minded peers who share the passion and desire to excel under the guidance of experienced faculty. The dedicated and professional specialist teachers offer programs with a focus on gifted and talented learning, STEM-oriented education for the modern world, and extensive after school activities and sports teams.
