Eric Derin
Director of Operations/Enrichment
Mr. Eric Derin has been immersed in the field of education since 1996. With a strong academic foundation in Mathematics, Information Technology (IT), and Business Administration, he possesses a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, a Master of Science in Administration and School Leadership (MSA), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Additionally, he is certified in 7-12 Administration in Maryland for Mathematics, Business Education, and Admin-I/II. He is an honorary member of the National Youth Leadership Forum: Medicine.
Throughout his career, Mr. Derin has taken on various roles, including teacher, coordinator for American Mathematics Competitions, testing coordinator, vice principal, and principal. His professional journey has given him international experience across different educational systems, including the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, London O and A levels, the United Kingdom’s educational model, and the United States educational system.
Driven by a shared vision, Mr. Derin joined the Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation (CLF), finding its mission aligned with his educational philosophies. He is deeply committed to fostering future STEM innovators through improved learning and operational strategies. As Director of Operations, he is honored to oversee operations at CLF headquarters and its schools. His responsibilities include managing grant projects, overseeing capital development and new school projects, assisting the Director of Finance with financial projections, and supervising budgets, assets, and enrichment/advanced programs.
Born in Mainz, Germany, Mr. Derin met his wife in Albania. She is a foreign language specialist fluent in four languages, with a Master’s degree in Psychology, and continues to pursue personal and professional growth.
